3.02 Workfile
Scan the following sentences using the dactyl [ /_UU/ ] and spondee /_ _/
delineation.
(Copy and paste the markings for dactyl and spondee when marking below
the syllables of each line)
NB: All long vowels are marked. Keep in mind that the syllable may still be
long by position (followed by two distinct consonant sounds) or by
diphthong (the vowel is a Latin diphthong. And watch for elisions.
Number 1 is divided into syllables and the first foot marked. Add the dactyl
or spondee markings. Then divide and mark numbers 2 - 4.
