Corporate Profile Part 1: Buyer Profile2IntroductionMark Zuckerberg’s creation, Facebook, is a founding corporation and inspiration oftoday’s social media network. “Facebook’s mission is to give people the power to share andmake the world more open and connected.People use Mr. Zuckerberg’s creation to stayconnected with friends and family, to discover what’s going on in the world, and to share andexpress what matters to them” (Investor Relations, 2016). The site was originally a service justfor Harvard college students but Mr. Zuckerberg began to see its potential and decided to expandits reach further.[Col12]. Harvard seniors Divya Narendra, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss suedMr. Zuckerberg under the allegation that he stole their idea and claimed it as his own. “A three-judge appellate court panel upheld a 2008 deal between the trio and Facebook founder MarkZuckerberg and litigations finally ended in 2011” [Ira11]. In 2009 the company surpassed thebiggest social media giant at the time MySpace making Facebook the largest social mediawebsite in the world.[How12] With outlets like companies using Facebook for advertisementFacebook continue to grow in popularity. Facebook made history in 2012 when the companylaunched their IPO and began publicly trading [Fac161]. Today over 1.59 billion users from allover the world utilize this social media giant[Num15].Overview“Facebook focuses on providing value for all kinds of marketers, including brand, directresponse, small and medium-sized businesses, and developers”[Fac15]. The Chief ExecutiveOfficer (CEO) and founder, Mark Zuckerberg, is responsible for the overall success of thecompany while Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sheryl Sandberg helps ensure that the companystays on task with the overall mission. Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Dave Wehner is the lead ofthe finance department. Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Mike Schroepfer “is responsible for

Lastly, Chief Product Officer (CPO) Chris Cox leads “Facebook’s ProductManagement, Design, and Marketing functions globally”[Man161].Facebook also has a boardof directors comprised of six other personnel which include the CEO and COO. The keypersonnel mentioned above reside at the company headquarter located in Menlo Park, California.[Fac161]Facebook’s interaction with other business is a huge reason for its continued growth.
