This works as a binary opposition because it states in the sentence the main reasons the South “needed” slaves and why the North did not necessarily need slaves to work because their economy wasn’t based mainly off of being agricultural. It makes it seem like the North are the good guys and the South is where all the bad guys are even though that’s not the case. The North had no issue with slavery the main issue in where it became unethical was when it became the main source of Americas economy. The South raised crops for profit and sale and not for personal use like those on the other side of the mason Dixon line. The main source of income for the Midwest and the North was growing
