Assignment 2: Final Course Reflection What theoretical approach do you think is most effective in viewing organizations? Why? Fredrick Taylor developed the Scientific Management Theory, which is one of the classical approaches that helped to define the structures of management you see today. The Scientific Management Theory was designed with an objective to improve economic efficiency, especially labor productivity. It also helped to provide workers with an incentive to work harder. The benefits of this theory were increased wages, reduced production costs, better quality products, benefits of Division of Labor, and gains to owners and investors. The development of the classical approaches can be applied to current companies; however, it is Human Resources, Systems, and Cultural Approaches provide viewpoints towards todays organizations. I believe that Human Resources is the most effective in viewing organizations. This approach recognizes that individuals have needs and feelings that must be considered (and not be treated like machines), however, individual labor cannot be forgotten when it comes to accomplishing organizational goals. This approach offers the best of both worlds by maximizing organizational productivity and individual need satisfaction while emphasizing the benefits that individual thoughts, ideas, and discussions can bring to an organization. And unlike the heirarchy management style that thinks motivating employees by the threat of punishment, the participative system motivates employees by offering awards and the participation in goals.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
