There was much suffering, pain, and death; it also was a time of much heroism.Killer Angelsis a novel of the Civil War, written by Michael Shaara. The emotional book introduces famous generals such as Lawrence Chamberlin, a general of the union army, and captures moment by moment, events and details. In the book, Killer Angels, General Chamberlin shows heroism by having a remarkable care for the well-being of others, having an extraordinary talent of speaking, and devoting his time to helping others. Lawrence Chamberlin demonstrates his care for others on various occasions.He is always worried about the well-being of others, and tries to help them in any way. At one point in Killer Angels, Chamberlin was called over to see an African American man lying on the ground. The man had been shot by a gun. “Chamberlin saw a dark stain, a tear, realized that the man had been bleeding...’ we’ll get him something to eat, then we’ll get him a surgeon.”(Page 160). Chamberlin didn’t have to help this man, but he chose to anyway. He felt sympathy for the man and went out of his way to comfort and assist him. He always wants the best for everyone, and will provide a helping hand.
