Quiz #1 (ch.1-4) 1. /////// 2. There are a distinct amount of research designs portrayed within the field of Psychology. Beginning with Descriptive Research, this method simply does identify what may cause the phenomenon into why someone acts the way they do but observes their the behavior of what they are doing, (Observe & Record). Contrasting heavily is a experimental research which focuses on a cause and effect approach. This experiment believes to influence one or several more factors. If the primary factor changes, then the idea of the manipulated factor is what caused the changing of the behavior. Having informed consent while be ethical is extremely important for the researchers and participants, because it allows what may be involved during the research such as; risks and rights to be portrayed into our own safety. If we feel that the research is too much for us, then being given that right to withdraw from the research is satisfying. In addition to our boundaries and confidentiality is extremely important, although we may not have released or been exposed to a large amount of research, we ought to have the right keep our information safe within right hands. As researchers are indeed responsible for obtaining, keeping our data from being exposed to other partcipants/ researchers. 3. Theorist Jean Piaget distinguished a cognitive theory of Children as they embark and actively construct their understanding of surroundings of the world. Organizations and adaptations are two leading factors of this dimenna by actively organizing observations and adapting to new environments. Although Piaget conclusively believed these stages were followed within the years of age it’s also believed that this theory represents a cognitive approach of how a child thinks/ reasons rather than knows. Assimilation is the cognitive process into which how we manage and receive new information to our present knowledge. Piaget outlined and quoted that schema as “A cohesive, repeatable action sequence possessing component actions that are tightly interconnected and governed by a core meaning.” In a fixed understanding, It means a building blocks of a plan or theory. Accommodation is when there is a failure within the schema which results in a situation of a new Schema. The sensorimotor stage (birth - 2 years) takes the role of “coordinating sensory experiences with physical actions.” Language and symbols begins in the preoperational stage (2 - 7 years), for example, a child who begins to represent objects as something else, pretending to be a superhero or making inanimate objects like; brooms as horses. Problem solving begins within the concrete stage where these children from the years of 7-11 begin to have logical reasoning but struggle and have not yet adapted to abstract thoughts.
