MARIA LOPEZ 2 Maria Lopez is a thirty-five-year-old woman who lives in Mississippi, recently lost her job and doesn’t have health insurance. Maria is single and lives at a distance from her parents who are alcoholics, and she rarely communicates with them nor does she go to visit them. Maria is experiencing anxiety, decreases in her daily activities, lacks the focus on her needs, loss of friendships, and finds that she shuts herself out of the world often. Maria stated she is having difficulty sleeping. She explains her sleeping pattern as to when she finally falls asleep; she wakes within a couple of hours and then worries the rest of the night about her financial and health situation. When questioned in detail of her sleep pattern, it was determined if Maria gets 13 hours of uninterrupted sleep a week, which is considered a good week for her. The knowledge of Maria’s sleeping pattern is validating the physical and mental health issues; she is experiencing day to day. Maria also stated that she has become a hermit and stays in her house as much as she can; she’s even started to have her groceries delivered to her doorstep so she doesn’t have to face running into someone she may know. Maria suffers from major depressive disorder (MDD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PSTD). Before these diagnoses, Maria was also diagnosed with physical health issues, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Since losing her job and health insurance, Maria has not been able to afford her medication for her physical health issues, MDD or PTSD. Also, she has failed to maintain her counseling sessions as her budget continues to tighten.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
