Critical Media AssignmentIntroductionOn April 13, 2018, a missile attack was launched against Syria. The US-led missilesupported by the United Kingdom and France should have issued a warning to Syria, especially toSyrian President Bashar al-Assad. Any further development of chemical weapons will be seriouslyaffected. The target of the missile is the three locations where the Syrian government is developingchemical weapons. Syria has been developing chemical weapons and using them to kill insurgents.The problem is that innocent bystanders are caught in the crossfire. As the United States has usedviolence to achieve peace in Syria, who poses the most serious danger to world peace? Chomsky’sarticle on the “Iranian threat” raised this issue. In this article, Chomsky analyzed the impact of theUnited States on Iran as a serious threat to world peace and a balance of power between the UnitedStates and the Middle East. Iran has always been regarded by the United States as a danger toworld stability and has recently reached a nuclear agreement to prevent Iran from acquiring thesedangerous weapons. However, Chomsky said that the United States may have ulterior motives toregard Iran as the main cause of instability and terrorism in the Middle East. Chomsky continuedto explain that unlike the United States and its allies, Iran is not, and has never really become, amilitary or nuclear threat. This article was written in 2015 and has some relevance to today. I didnot consider Iran’s threat to the world, but wanted to study a similar threat, that is, the world isdealing with Syria today. Syria is portrayed as a great danger to the world, which is why countrieslike the United States use their power to stop them. I used three major news sources (KathmanduPost, CBC, and CNN) to review their findings on the matter and identify any potential politicalbiases.Summaries of Each ArticlesThe first video came from CBC.
