IntroductionEducational institutions around the world are designed to educate and support the development of our young. Though every state and community may foster a different model the goal should remain getting our students prepared for the future. This means providing them with the best opportunity and educational experience. By asking yourself these questions. Are we preparing our students to enter this 21stcentury? Are our students skilled and prepared to function and live up to the challenges that await them with this educational experience teachers today are providing? This paper will compare what steps are happening to familiarize our students with what they will need to be successful. And explain why teachers must foster learning environments that encourage critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, global awareness, and social responsibility.Based on the MAED program learning outcomes, the first three student outcome expectations state that “The MAED graduate designs appropriate and challenging learning experiences informed by analysis of how learners develop individually across the cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical patterns to promote student learning and growth, The MAED graduate employs differentiated instructional practices aligned with earner strengths and differences, diverse cultures a diverse community to promote student learning in a safe, collaboratively, engaging, inclusive, 21stcentury learning environment.Redesign OutcomesThis is a redesign of my EDU 645 Curriculum about identifying feelings of others and the language to express those feelings. This supports 21stcentury learning. Students will utilize
the computer HATCH program to connect the emotional words to the visual emotional situations.This allowing them the opportunity to explore and recognize the feelings and expressions that goalong with the feeling words. This giving them the skill to respond to emotional cue. The story that I chose for this assignment is “Today I Feel Silly & Other MOODS That Make My Day”By Jamie Lee Curtis and Illustrated by Laura Cornell. Since this lesson is based on Social Emotional outcomes. This book is so rich in language and in its ability to keep your attention with all the wonderful expression and colors that go with the book.
