Daniella BeffaSociology SYG2000March 25, 2018 Maasai People From Kenya The Maasai are a Pastoral society because they rely on the domestication of animals for survival. Their traditional social order was mechanical solidarity. The roles were assumed because they’d been that way for many years. The men oversaw security and the women oversaw building the home, cooking, cleaning, and collecting firewood. Boys would be in chargeof herding the livestock and the elders were responsible for delegating the day-to-day activities. Due to the recent limitations on land ownership and number of cattle per household, their societyis no longer as self-sufficient as they once were. Their people have resorted to begging. They are blending with modern society more and more. They are restricted from getting water from land they used to have access to. Land developers are taking over some of their land and makingparks and reserves.
