HEALTH CARE REFORM /INTEGRATION & REFLECTION 2 On March 23 rd , 2010, President Barack Obama signed into law the Patients Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. On March 30 th , 2010, President Barack Obama signed the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act (HCERA). These two regulations are interchangeably referred as the Affordable Care Act. The Affordable Care Act was the largest reform act towards medical care since 1965. Their primary goals were to expand insurance coverage, expand medical coverage, lower costs and improve overall quality. The patient protection and affordable care act upsurges access to health insurance coverage for people of all ages. The United States became the last developed nation in the world to provide all citizens with access to health care in 2010. The PPACA is the first major health care reform since Medicare and Medicaid created. The bill contains provisions whereas some gears of the PPACA went into effect in 2010, numerous of the changes will be take place 2014. In 2009 bipartisan group of senators worked together to develop a consensus on Health care reform. The senators assessed that a positive bipartisan bill is a possible. Being able to look back and see the effects of the ACA allows one to understand what goals it has met, what good it has done, where it has failed, and why it fell short. Since its passing the ACA has only been effective at increasing insurance coverage. The health care cost has continued to grow to 3.8 trillion annually for the year of 2014, a 68 percent increase from the 2.6 trillion spent in 2010, while access to magnetic resonance imaging, and cancer screenings is
