On the 27 th of July 1996 Richard Jewell was an ordinary every day man, that had his life turned upside down due to a play of bad luck, and a huge part of media that demonized a man who has not been found guilty (Ryan, 2007). During the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia Mr. Jewell was working a security detail for AT&T, while on duty Mr. Jewell noticed a backpack left under a bench that stuck out as odd to him. Mr. Jewell took on the role of protector and called the police, while staying in harm’s way he decided to stay and keep people clear of the area for bomb squad. Two to three minutes later the bomb goes off injuring over one hundred and killing one (Waxman, 2016). At First, Mr. Jewell was hailed a hero, but shortly after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) decided he is now a suspect whom solely felt that Mr. Jewell wanted nothing more than praise. The media outlets heard of this through a leak in the FBI and ate it up immediately. Running stories degrading Mr. Jewell, calling him a killer and saying that he is responsible, all without evidence. The media in my opinion is something that
