Billy LancasterCIS 11806/24/18Reflection:In this chapter we discuss protocols and router types commonly used on the most popularnetwork types for homes and buisnesses. We look at TCP and UDP which are in the transport layer. IPand ICMP operate on the network layer. Then we looked at ARP which operates on the data link layer ofthe OSI model. I learned about the difference between static routing and dynamic routing as well as theadvantages and disadvantages of both. I also learned the differences in the algorithms used to determinethe best route for information to take through the network and their advantages and disadvantages. Therouting protocols are RIP, OSPF, IS-IS and, BGP. Next, I learned about the netstat utility and its importancein diagnosing network problems. The last thing we learned is the usage of nbtstat, traceroute and, routecommand and how they can help you determine the route your information is taking.
