Lab Report #8 Name: Marat Seitimov Lab Partner: Brandon Bjork Date Performed: 11/01/2007 Summary: In this experiment we need to determine the heat of reaction for combustion of magnesium metal. To ap- proach our goal we use Hess Law that says we can determine the heat of reaction by calculating the heat of series of reactions in order to obtain the heat of reaction of the overall reaction. In Part A we determine the heat capacity of the calorimeter, which we will need in finding the heat of reaction. In Part B and Part C we find the heat of 2 reactions in order to obtain the heat of whole reaction.
