Experiment: Chemical Kinetics: Experimental Determination of a Rate Law Name: Lab Partner: Date Performed: 11/08/2007 Summary: We performed some measurements to determine the rate law for a chemical reaction. We observed chem- ical reaction between crystal violet and sodium hydroxide. Our objective was to find the relationship between concentration of crystal violet and the time elapsed during the reaction. In part A of the experi- ment we determined the order of reaction with respect to crystal violet and in part B we determined the order of reaction with respect to hydroxide ions. By making observations we can find the rate of the reac- tion.
