Lab Report : Investigating Chemical Reactions Objective: Predict products from common chemical reaction. Chemical reactions can be grouped into the following five common reaction types: -synthesis,-decomposition, -single replacement, -double replacement, and -combustion. Observations : Synthesis Reactions Synthesis means to combine or put together. Decomposition means to break down, Single-Replacement Reactions sometimes called a displacement or substitution reaction, double-replacement reactions, two ionic compounds exchange ions to produce two new ionic compounds, Combustion reactions involve a single element or compound that combines with oxygen gas to release heat and light Conclusion : A chemical reaction is the change of a substance into a new one that has a different chemical identity involving the transfer of electrons, leading to the formation and breaking of chemical bonds. Chemical reactions are classified into several different categories. Activity Observations and Data Synthesis reaction
