Even though lawyers were disregarded as ones who are useless and don’t have the power to defend the defendant, that does nt mean that lawyers are with no use. A lawyer was still needed because some of them may have some connections with judges and others who work in the court room. This is how lawyers can successfully bribe judges into possibly helping the one who is accused. However, these personal connections were made with lower class judges and employees who had little to no power. “Only honest personal contacts are of true value and with higher officials, by which is meant of course higher official’s from the lower ranks”. (pg97). A court secrecy is defiantly the biggest disadvantage towards the defendant. Since private cases are private. The defendant and his lawyer weren’t aware of it. So there wasn’t a way of defending himself against an accusation, the defendant is not aware of it. This made secrecy the courts biggest advantage. By restricting the defendants’ rights by secretly talking about the accused privately... It’s very simple for the court to secretly destroy someone in trial with secrecy. “the proceeding of secrecy isn’t brought up to lower officials” so they don’t even know anything related to his accusation, and don’t
