UPS System- There is an Uninterruptable Power Supply that keeps the network up and working in the event of a power outage. This protects servers as wells as work to continue in a crisis.Site Connectivity- having each location linked, and able to run the entire company in case of catastrophic failure is a major strength in reliability of the network. The intranet and VPN for off site usage works very well and gets data where it needs to be quickly while keeping data secure.Security software- the infrastructure is currently designed to protect against intrusion and most known methods of attack. There is also physical security that logs users and has alarms for unauthorized access.There is also location tracking software, virus protection, and vpn software on each personal computer that is part of the network.Weaknesses:No redundant network path to the internet- Currently there is a single ISP for the network that does not include a fail over. If the internet connection goes down the intranet would still function, but external communication would not function.Server Capacity/Scalability- the current upgrade did not account for adding two markets into our mix. While there is 20% room for growth added in the current server data center, it does not cover the computing and data needs from adding two more locations. There will need to me more servers/equipment added to meet the needs of expansion.Absence of cloud-based solutions- the site connectivity has been planned very well and the feeling of collactivity is felt at all locations. However, there are no cloud-based solutions. This weakness will be felt with expansion. Not having cloud-based solutions in place will cause extra costs in purchasing hardware, reduces sharing, and added costs in data storage.
