This work sample will assess performance evidence, knowledge evidence and the following elements: CHCECE001 Element 1.4, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.5, 6.1, 6.2, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, 7.5 CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people 1.3, 1.4, 2.2, 2.3, 3.2 CHCDIV002 Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety 1.1, 1.2, 1.4, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 PART A This part of the assessment requires you to reflect on your culture and beliefs. You are required to identify cultural groups within your service and the community, as well as reflect on inclusive practices that support families from diverse cultures. 1) In consultation with your workplace supervisor, identify and record all the cultures that are represented within your service and the local community. There are Australian, Indian, New Zealand, Japan, Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean. 2) Give 2 examples of how your service collects information about each family’s cultural background and explain who has access this information. 1. Parents fill the enrolment form at the beginning, which includes culture background information of the family. It is stored in every room and the office and every staff can access.

Educator communication with family during orientation to collect culture background. 3) List practices implemented at your work placement that reflect the culture, heritage, traditions and diverse backgrounds of the children and families within the service. There is a “culture week” when I was in work placement. Educators introduce different country each day and plan various activities combine to the culture of country. For example, children put tomato sauce and cheese on pizza and eat as afternoon tea to introduce Italian food and they listen and dance with song in different language every day. How does the service show flexibility in their practices regarding individual culture and values? Educator discuss with parents about their culture background and collect information from enrolment form and involve all the culture in the program. Educator also collaborate with family with their culture need. For example, children might have special meal because of their religion and educator will provide appropriate food for them.
