ABSTRACTGrounded in theory, this study looks into the current realities of Islamic Banking in Kenya fromthe perspective of analyzes the effect of Islamic banking on conventional banks in the Kenyaneconomy. A thorough survey of existing literature was undertaken to analyze the effects ofIslamic banking in conventional banks. Data collection instruments used in the study werequestionnaires, while stratified random sampling techniques were also used to select the targetpopulation of 10 banks with 10 bank managers, 20 middle level managers, 38 head ofdepartments, 74 credit managers and 150 clerks. The sample size was almost 50% of the targetpopulation without bank managers, which have relatively small population. The questionnaireswere first pretested to determine the validity and reliability before they used in the actual study. The Central Bank of Kenya were in a position to use the findings of the research to gauge howthe effect of Islamic banking on conventional banks in Kenyan economy. It will also enable theCentral Bank of Kenya to find out whether more amendments are required in the Banking Actmoreover; scholars will use the findings of the study to further their knowledge and carryoutmore research in the Islamic banking field.
