Amy Lentz Psych 4007-62634 Unit Two Objectives Assignment Concepts innate ideas - Innate ideas are ideas about things that are not concrete, such as God. tabula rasa - Tabula rasa is what John Locke believed humans were born with in regards to knowledge. Tabula rasa means blank slate. mind-body problem - Mind-body problem describes the question if there is a distinction between the physical body and the mind. Terms Determinism - Determinism is the idea that we know what will happen in the future based on how things happened in the past. Using the clock metaphor, we understand that a clock one it hits 12 will not proceed to 13 but starts over again at 1. We know this because of determinism. Empiricism - Empiricism is the desire for knowledge through observation and experimentation. Ideas that were handed down from past generations were no longer believed to be correct. Positivism - Positivism is only recognizing objective facts and natural phenomena. These are known facts that are not disputed.
