I chose to analyze case study 4.2, “Christmas Lights” (Gorski and Pothini, 2018, p. 31).In thiscase study, a teacher, Ms. Bren tweeted a comment about people having Christmas lights upbefore Halloween and how annoyed she was by it (Gorski & Pothini, 2018).The issue, however, that many of the students in Ms. Bren’s class seem out of sorts and not them usual selves(Gorski& Pothini, 2018). Ms. Bren was approached by two colleagues, Mr. Richards and Ms. Wilson(Gorski & Pothini, 2018).Mr. Richards shares Ms. Bren’s sentiments and even jokes with herabout how ridiculous it is to have Christmas lights up so early (Gorski & Pothini, 2018). Ms.Wilson, on the other hand, asks to speak to Ms. Bren about a conversation she overheard astudent, Hasan, with some other students (Gorski & Pothini, 2018). Hasan and the group of otherstudents were upset about Ms. Bren’s tweet and felt that Ms. Bren and Mr. Richards had nobusiness insulting their friends (Gorski & Pothini, 2018).Ms. Bren felt embarrassed and nowunderstood why her students might have disengaged during her lesson (Gorski & Pothini, 2018).
