Strong Acids: HCl, HI, HBr, HNO 3 , H 2 SO 4,  HClO ( all of them will ionize in the absence of water except H 2 SO 4 ) Strong Bases: G 1 OH, Ca(OH) 2 , Ba(OH) 2 , Sr(OH) 2 ***Redox Reactions : Dichromate(Cr 2 O 7 -2 ), Permanganate(MnO 4 -1 ), Nitric Acid (HNO 3 ) --- Acids : MnO 4 -1  → Mn +2 Cr 2 O 7 -2    Cr 3+                         HNO 3     → NO in concentrated solutions HNO 3     → NO   in dilute solutions --- Bases : MnO 4 -1   → MnO 2                          Cr 2 O 7 -2    Cr(OH)  2 *** Reactions with Water – Water reacting with Group 1 or 2 metals will produce OH , H 2   and a metal ion Cs + H 2 O → OH + H + Cs *** Water reacting with oxides metal oxides and Water produce metal hydroxides. H 2 O + Na 2 → Na OH *** Nonmetal oxide and water produces oxyacid; don’t change oxidation number SO 2 + H 2 O → H 2 SO SO + H 2 O → H 2 SO 4 ***
