July 15, 2018 Glimmerville City Council 8945 Fishier Dr. Glimmerville, GA 99405 Dear Glimmerville City Council Members, Ecosystem balancing is usually left up to mother nature. When humans begin to disrupt this balance, many things are affected. Keeping the balance happens between animals, abiotic species and plants coexists. Pollution or fertilizers used can have an impact on the overgrowth within lakes. Sparksville utilized many factors to contain this growth. Introducing the Grass Carp into our lake, at the time was thought to be a way to control the increase produced by the fertilizer by the farms (Gamescape, 2018). The Grass carp began to grow to a massive size which limited the space in which the native species in our lakes could thrive. Due to the massive amounts of vegetation, the Grass Carp population grew vastly. This vast growth of the Grass Carp caused our bass, perch and other native species to decrease in population.
