CHCECE001 Develop cultural competence CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people CHCDIV002 Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety CO-ASSESSED Work Sample ‘Cultural Competence/Diverse People/Cultural Safety’ This work sample assessment requires you to explore practices in your work placement regarding cultural practices with children and their families from diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. This work sample will assess performance evidence, knowledge evidence and the following elements: CHCECE001 Element 1.4, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.5, 6.1, 6.2, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, 7.5 CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people 1.3, 1.4, 2.2, 2.3, 3.2 CHCDIV002 Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety 1.1, 1.2, 1.4, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 PART A This part of the assessment requires you to reflect on your culture and beliefs. You are required to identify cultural groups within your service and the community, as well as reflect on inclusive practices that support families from diverse cultures. 1) In consultation with your workplace supervisor, identify and record all the cultures that are represented within your service and the local community. After talking to my supervisor about the cultural background of the children in the centre, children or families who come from other cultures are very varied, and that means there is a lot of diversity and above all respect between them. The cultural background of the children of the centre are: Australia, Chinese, Japanese, Korea and Indonesia ect. 2) Give 2 examples of how your service collects information about each family’s cultural background and explain who has access this information. a) Talk with theirs parents to get that information directly. The language they speak at home and the child’s cultural background. b) Each child has a personal folder where all their information and routines are found. 3)Listpractices implemented at your work placement that reflect the culture, heritage, traditions and diverse backgrounds of the children and families within the service. How does the service show flexibility in their practices regarding individual culture andvalues?
