Job Description: HR Specialist 2 A crucial part of HR planning, recruiting and employee management is the creation of a job description. A job description identifies the tasks, skills and behaviors that are required of a qualified candidate to possess and sets the expectations of the employee for their performance in the role (Youssef, 2012). There are three sections to a job description; identification section, general summary and a detailed list (Youssef, 2012). In addition, it is used as a measurement for other HR duties such as compensation, performance review, training needs and assessments and promotions (Youssef, 2012). If there is not an accurate job description then the entire human resource management function and planning will hold little to no validity in the decisions that they make. Human Resource Specialist Job Description Tasks There are many core tasks that a Human Resource Specialists will perform on a daily to monthly basis. These tasks span through different functions such as planning, staffing, compliance, and employee relations ( ). The following is a detailed list of tasks assigned to this position but other tasks may be required throughout employment. In the planning function HR Specialists are responsible for developing and implementing recruiting strategies to meet current or anticipated staffing needs ( ). This requires generating data reports and conducting various types of analysis such as environmental scan, internal scan and gap analysis in order to correctly plan these strategies (Youssef, 2012). After compiling the data and formulating a strategy, the Human Resource Specialist will be able to advise management on the recruiting and retention programs ( ). Job Description: HR Specialist 3 testing techniques will be required to ensure that the most cost efficient and valuable methods are being utilized for the coordinating job descriptions ( ). In the area of staffing Human Resource Specialist will be required to assist in the recruitment stages and after a candidate has been selected and hired. In the area of recruiting the individual will be responsible pull qualified candidates from databases, internet, job fairs, etc.
