Experiment 4 Post lab Abstract : In this experiment, we are exploring acid/base chemistry, along with pH and buffer solutions. We are also learning how to make titration curves and calculate pKa from the titration curves presented. We are also exploring titration methods. We will be standardizing NaOH solution, then neutralizing sulfuric acid with sodium hydroxide, and finally titrating sodium carbonate by using a pH meter and probe and sulfuric acid. The experiment will be deemed successful if the titration curves are well done and if the pKa values are within accepted values. Procedures : First, we standardized NaOH with KHP. This was done by weighing out KHP and adding it to a 150 mL beaker. We then added deionized water, a stir bar, and phenolphthalein indicator to the solution and placed it on the stir plate. As the solution was gently stirring, we titrated KHP using NaOH. Then, we standardized H2SO4 and NaOH. We did this by obtaining 15 mL of sulfuric acid and adding it to the beaker. We added deionized water, the stir bar, and phenolphthalein indicator to the solution and placed it on the stir plate. We then titrated the solution with 0.1 M NaOH. Last, but not least, we titrated sodium
