Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
is an acute adverse event where the brain cells are injured. It is a
very serious injury compared to other body parts injuries. In case of a knee injury only that part
of the body that has limited function. However, in case of a brain injury one’s personality is
altered and healing is often an uphill task that involves mostly functional therapy and not
necessarily drug therapy. Moreover, individuals who suffer these injuries are unaware of their
condition making it more difficult to treat. Concussion is a type of a traumatic brain injury.
Concussions may be mild where individuals retain their consiciousness or may be severe where
they lose their conciusness. Some of the major causes of concussions are motor vehicle
accidents, falls, sports injury, and being hit with an object on the head. Common symptoms of
individuals who have experienced a concussion
include;
Physical
Headache
Blurry vision
Nausea or vomiting
Drowsiness
Sentivity to noise and light
Balance problems
Lethargy
Emotional
Irritability
Sadness
Very emotional
Anxiety

Sleep
Sleeping more than usual
Sleeping less than usual
Difficulties in initiating sleep
