FEAA 200 Introduction to Engineering & Architecture Fall 2016-17 Bridge Building Competition The aim of this exercise is to design and build a model of a bridge crossing over a river. 1- Bridge Dimensions: Bridge Dimensions Span 70 cm (exact) Deck Width 12 cm (exact) Deck Elevation 15-30 cm (total) You need to make sure that the measure of the width is 12cm (from the outside surface to the outside surface). If the bridge width is more than 12cm, the bridge will be disqualified. You need to make sure that the span of the bridge is 70 cm exactly and the maximum elevation allowed between the farthest two points on the bridge should be a maximum of 30cm . Therefore, your bridge will have to fit in a box having the dimensions of 70cm x 12cm x 30cm, and its top edge must exceed 15cm in height. The loading deck should be STRAIGHT and HORIZONTAL 2- Construction /Material: You will build the model out of balsa wood, a lightweight and very soft wood that you can cut using a regular knife. Ea
