FEAA200 : Introduction to Engineering and Architecture Experiment III-b 3 I. OBJECTIVES In this experiment, students learn how to Use advanced functions from LabVIEW MINDOSTORMS Robotics toolbox Think about different algorithms to achieve a desired task Execute a task by combining different robot sensors/actuators Complete and test complex missions II. INTRODUCTION In this experiment, students will be introduced to execute line tracking missions. These tasks will give students an idea about robotics, and how even the simplest tasks that humans can accomplish are actually very complicated to program on a robot. Students will work in the same groups assigned before using the built robot named EDUCATOR using Lego MINDSTORMS Toolkit to train them on the basics of robotics programming. Previously, students have learned the basics of LabVIEW and how to read and write to EV3 sensors and actuators. Throughout this lab, students will use the previously introduced blocks and acquired knowledge to execute the desired tasks while introducing new advanced LabVIEW functional blocks from MINDOSTORMS Robotics toolbox. After each mission, students will do a demonstration to the lab instructor who will check the robot performance and eff iciency, and the students’ comprehension, programming skills, and troubleshooting capabilities. III. RESOURCES Hardware Educator LEGO MINDSTORMS robot model Sensors : Light/Color, Ultrasonic sensor, Touch, and Gyro Sensor. Differential drive motors. And the brain, the EV3 Software: LabVIEW MINDOSTORMS Robotics toolbox Accessories: Lego colored cube to simulate an obstacle Black tape to simulate a track

THEORETICAL BACKGROUND In this mission, additional blocks are useful to perform the required tasks and are introduced below.
