DISCUSSION FORUM 42Discussion Board Forum 3In identifying two business topics that are relevant at The Walt Disney Company, the themes of narcissism and change are important to the firm. Each is an issue that is continually problematic for the firm and are areas in which the company could focus more efforts. Further investigation associated with how to deal with continuous change, both internal and external, along with narcissism, could serve the company well. This post will place highlight these two issues for the company, focusing on applied principles. Narcissism As discussed by Kinicki and Fugate (2016, p. 444), narcissism is defined as someone having an egotistical perspective on things, along with beliefs of superiority and an ambition for individual power and admiration. One could be argued that these feelings of inflated importance come from the culture that has been created over time; a culture that has focused on its belief thatit is the best in the industry, regardless of the good or service being considered. Though I believethat a certain level of superiority exists, I am also realistic in thinking that Disney may not always be the best at delivering on its promises to consumers, be it in the theme park, media, or consumer product segments. This understanding grounds me in my thinking, allowing me to avoid narcissistic views of my company or my own actions associated with it. Unfortunately for many, however, this is not the case.
