Be active, not passive!

Highlighting and underlining are passive reading
techniques since neither require you to interact
with the text or make sense of it. You’re merely
marking in your book.

Active reading requires the reader to make
notes, also known as annotations .

Every time you read you should have a pen or
pencil in hand. Reading isn’t just an activity for
your eyes!
