Chapter 15 Outline: Air Pollution Overview: Know the types, sources, and effects of chemicals that pollute outdoor and indoor environments that threaten our health and natural ecosystems. Why are lichens mentioned in the beginning? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Atmosphere: All you need to know about the atmosphere is that the innermost layer is contained within the troposphere . - How much air is contained within this layer? - What is the composition? - What is the function of the ozone layer? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Outdoor air pollution: Most intense over cities for obvious reasons; mainly from the combustion of fossil fuels. - Differentiate between the sources. - Only need to know about primary pollutants and how they move around.
