Introduction The experiment to be performed will allow one to determine the exact combination and concentration of dyes used by the brand name beverage. Using absorption spectroscopy will allow one to determine the combination and concentration. In order to determine the dyes that were used in the brand name beverage, an experiment using absorption spectroscopy will aide in the process, we will then have the dyes that were used and can record and report that information in order to create generic versions of the brand name beverage. Light absorption is what will help in determining the concentration of a given solution. Different atoms and different molecules each have a different wavelength of light that will be absorbed because of spacing in energy levels, in other words different atoms or molecules absorb different wavelengths of light. A spectrophotometer, this device consists of a light source, a sample compartment, and a detector; a cuvette containing a solution is placed in the sample compartment after a sample and reference, light is then passed through the cuvette from the light source and the
