INTRODUCTION OF THE REPORTThe internship program is an integral part of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). This isthe outcomes of perfect coordination between theoretical and practical experience. For Bachelorof Business Administration (BBA) student only theoretical knowledge is not enough for handlingthe real life business situation. It is the great privilege for the students to know about the practicalbusiness operations through the internship program. For that reason, this report is dressed on thebasis of three months’ practical experience under the guideline of foreign exchange department ofMercantile Bank Limited. Different terms that are related to the foreign exchange business andthe detail scenario of the Mercantile Bank Limited depicted in the report.1.2BACKGROUND OF THE REPORTAny academic course of study has a great value when it is being used in practical life. Only a lotof theoretical knowledge will be a little important unless it is applicable in practical life. So weneed adequate application of our theoretical knowledge to make ourselves effective in corporateworld. This is why internship program is a subject to acquiring BBA degree in our university. Asa part of internship program of BBA course requirement, I was assigned to do my internship inMercantile Bank Limited at Dhanmondi Branch for three months’ period. MBL is a specializedfinancial institution that performs most of the standard banking services and investment activitieson the basis of not only profit sharing but also social partnership. After completing the internshipprogram, this report is prepared on “Performance Analysis of Foreign Exchange Operations ofMercantile Bank Limited”.1.3SIGNIFICANCE OF THE REPORTThe prime reason of this study is to become familiar with the practical business world and toattain practical knowledge about the banking and corporate world, which is so much essential foreach and every student to meet the extreme growing challenge in job market. It is also known toall of us that there is no alternative of practical knowledge and practical knowledge is much moredurable and useful then the theoretical knowledge. While preparing this report, I had a greatopportunity to have an in depth knowledge of some of the foreign exchange activities ofMercantile Bank Limited. 1.4SCOPE OF THE REPORTThe scope of the study is limited to Mercantile Bank Limited. The study focuses on theperformance analysis of foreign exchange operations of MBL.
