ABSTRACT Training and development has taken an upfront seat in present scenario due to significant contribution of employees in the success and growth of the organization. It is seen that, employees form an integral part of the organization. The training program is the crucial aspect for enhancing knowledge and skills of workforce which assists management to increase overall rate of return. Training or learning of workforce has direct impact on the productivity of company which makes it possible to create competitive edge of the firm in the marketplace. The study proposed herewith is based upon Asda which is the American owner British supermarket retailer. It offers large number of services to customers on the basis of their requirements including financial and other mobile services. The organization provides training to its workforce on the basis of specific objectives. The main aim of present report is to evaluate the effectiveness of training and development programs for Asda. Owing to this, focus has been laid on assess relationship between employees training and sales opportunity for the organizations in retail sector. Further, different ways through which employees training help in maximizing sales opportunities for Asda has also been taken into consideration. The research under investigation is of qualitative type as it consists of qualitative means to analyze the collected data. Furthermore, both primary and secondary data has been collected in order to address the formulated aim and objectives. It has been concluded that training and development programme helps in improving employees' performance. Moreover, it is seen that continuous training programmes support organization's efforts to achieve long-term objectives. The efficient and skilled employees in turn are able to understand and satisfy customers' requirements in proficient manner. The training and development programmes results in improving performance of employees. This in turn leads to overall growth and development of the organization at whole
