Bickham HIST 105 Study Guide for Final Exam Coverage The test will cover all lectures from November 1 st (beginning with the end of the American Revolution) through the end of the course. It will also cover all discussions and discussion readings from November 4 th through the end of the course. If you are not sure what this includes, consult your syllabus or you TA. The exam will be worth 300 points (30% of the course grade). Format The test will consist of roughly 40 multiple choice, true/false, and short answer questions. A number of these will come from the previous exams (study both exams). The rest will be divided roughly evenly between the reading assignments (everything but the American Promise textbook is fair game) and the lectures. The essay questions will be based largely on the lectures, but a thorough understanding of the reading will enhance your answer. Your answer should be a thorough response to all of the question, be formatted as a direct response to the question (i.e. do not write down randomly everything you know about the topic), and be substantial in length. You will need to bring a bluebook, a scantron sheet (the long thin green one), and pencils and pens. If you have any questions First, thoroughly check your readings and notes. If you have questions after that see any of the teaching assistants or Dr. Bickham during their special office hours for the exam, which are listed below: Bickham Monday (Dec. 11 th ) 2-4pm History/Glasscock Building, room 207A Beauchamp beauchamp7@neo.tamu.edu 862-6820 W/M 10:30-11:30 Godin j-godin@tamu.edu 862-6776 Peatman jpeatman@tamu.edu 862-6818 Th. 3:30-5:30 Mallet drmallett@hotmail.com 862-6819 Friday 1-3pm Do not send emails with lists of questions, as these are most appropriately dealt with in a face-to- face meeting during office hours. If you have a yes/no type question, that it fine to email, but 1 1

remember that the TAs and Dr. Bickham may take up to 48 hours in responding to emails (as noted in the syllabus)—so manage your time accordingly. Readings Be familiar with all of the readings. There will not be specific question on the American Promise textbook, but it will provide you the essential background for the other readings and lectures. It is also a useful resource for identifying terms, concepts and people that are listed below but may not have received a great deal of attention in your notes. You should expect questions on all of the reading assignments pertaining to the discussions that are listed on your syllabus. Many of the items below overlap with the readings, but to be thoroughly prepared see the syllabus’s suggestions on what to include from in your notes. Chronology
