1 Joseph May Mr. Hall HIS 109 7-23-2018 Essay 3: 1929-1945 Aside from the American Revolution itself, the post 20s and WWII era is the the most most defining time in American history. From going to the point to having virtually nothing as a country, to becoming a global superpower and international savior, the United States effort made restoration of both America itself and the whole world through hard work and the power of God surely. The active participation and alliances in international politics surely intensified what was to become a free and democratic world. American politics were not exactly a mirror reflection of post war politics in the year 1929, in fact it was a polar opposite. With The Great Depression clouded over the United States, the people looked to the federal government for answers, that doesn’t mean the government would answer to say the least. Although many pleaded,against the decisions of the federal government, even economists, the Hoover administration adhered to the gold standard, while also raising high tariffs which brought downturn on the economy. This not only hindered the U.S. economy, but also affected global trade causing greater contraction in the industrialized world such as Europe (686). It was a rough start before the 1936 election. Since that point the FDR administration stepped in and formed what was known as the New Deal. The New Deal was a huge set of reform bills that focused on the four major problems that the United States was
