Greg Coolidge THAR 101 7/19/05 The Taming of The Shrew I personally have seen this play twice live and have loved every bit of it. Its nice to see something different from those tragedies like Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Macbeth. Shakespeare’s play was alluded to in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You ; which is fun to compare the two when the Plot, Characters, and Theme are all basically alike as well. The Taming of The Shrew is a much different type of romantic play then we are used to seeing from Shakespeare. This one doesn’t just focus on the marriage and the life of the characters alone but of those around them too. The plot of the story is again a different story line of that of which we are used to seeing from Shakespeare. We have a young maiden Bianca who has many hopeful prospect courtiers. The two most important characters that are trying to win the eye of Bianca are Hortensio and Lucientio. Luciento is a young rich man that has just moved into town. The catch with anyone marrying Bianca is that her father Baptista says that her older sister Katherine has to be married
