Discussion 5.1: An Empowering Leader
Certain leadership tactics and management practices may positively or negatively affect employee
empowerment, motivation, and productivity. Research evidence of how your chosen leader’s behavior
affected employee empowerment, motivation, and productivity in his or her organization. Describe
how the leader’s behavior shaped organizational culture in a positive or negative fashion. Were any
ethical and/or unethical political behaviors evident in these tactics?
Respond to two of your classmates’ posts concerning their chosen leader’s tactics to become an
empowering leader. Were the tactics successful? How did the tactics affect organizational culture?
Empowerment is the basic component of shared or distributed leadership.
Teams accomplish
more and become more productive when they can work in a collaborative manner and practice
shared decision making (DuBrin, 2016).
