PERSONAL WORLDVIEW & BUSINESS ETHICS2STEP 1To what extent should personal religious beliefs impact our decisions about business ethics?I believe that my personal religious beliefs should impact my ability to make decisions. Itwill also affect the people that I work with because if I model Godly behavior and make good choices that are ethical and for the benefit of the company then they will trust me more and not think that I am just another person out to take advantage of them. I want to make the people I work with happy and comfortable with the way I am and not just look at the decisions I am making, but how I am making them. If I were to hire someone I would not just hire them if they had the same beliefs that I had. Being a Christian is all about having love in our hearts and lovingothers no matter what they believe and let God judge them. It is not our place to do that, which iswhy God gave us the fruits of the spirit. “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; itis not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5 English Standard Version). To what extent do your personal religious (or non-religious) beliefs about life impact your sense of business ethics and personal decision-making?I do let my religious beliefs about life impact my sense of business ethics to an extent. I want to influence the people around me and notice that I am a Christian and an honest person. My character is the type that wants to be one of integrity and reliability to my co-workers and do not want them to think otherwise. “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them” (Proverbs 11:3 English Standard Version). It is important to methat I display the same characteristics that I would want someone to display toward me. As I wrote in the first paragraph I will not judge someone based on their religious beliefs, but I will choose who I associate myself with in regards to it. Being a Christian is very important to me
PERSONAL WORLDVIEW & BUSINESS ETHICS3and I let my non-believer friends know where I stand religiously and what I believe and if they still want to be associated with me it is completely up to them,Does it seem odd to connect every belief we have about life back to what we believe about God?It does not seem odd to me to connect every belief we have about life back to what we believe about God because He created us. We are made in His image and as such we are to follow His Word and His teachings. There is a lot of evil in this world, so it is important that Godbe apart of everything we do and say. We must put up a wall around ourselves and try to exclude as much of the flesh as possible. He must be a part of our decision-making with not just work-related items but also personal. Life is all about making mistakes but with God guiding us daily
