Results and Discussion: Purpose : Design and implement and experimental procedure to determine the effect cross-linking has on polymer solution viscosity. First, a quantity of PVA was measured using an electronic balance. Mass PVA = 2.049 g Then, the PVA was slowly dissolved in hot water until all the PVA was added. 10 drops of 0.1% methyl red inicator was added to the solution and the data and calculated results were tabulated (Table 1). Next, a quantity of borax was measured using an electronic balance. Mass borax = 0.400 g The borax was combined with 10 mL of water until dissolved. The borax solution was added in 10 mL increments three times to the PVA solution. The data and calculated results were tabulated (Table 1).
