Reflective Journal Week 1I heard a lot about how difficult this class was and I was getting scared. However, I decided not to listen to others and put my focus on passing this course successfully. We started off on promoting evidence-based practice to promoting healthcare practice. I am asking colleagues on their take on evidence based practice and what evidence based practice would be appropriate to reduce the current high falls rate we are experiencing at our facility. Most of them are recommending Hourly/Purposeful rounding to help end this problem and I agree with them totally. It has always been my desire to write on this topic, however, a lot more research needs to be done on this topic to be sure it is the right solution to my identified problem. I am deciding to use an accredited websites or sources to get my information on falls and hourly/purposeful rounding because I want the information presented in my article to be as accurate as possible. I am using CINAHL and PubMed as my main source of information. The patient populations I will be targeting are adult hospitalized patients on my floor. My mentor and I met to discuss and share ideas on how best to write and implement this identified solution to solving the high rate offalls amongst our hospitalized patients.Week 2My mentor and I are meeting again this week to discuss how we can slowly introduce ournew approach of ending fall rates in the health system by systematically discussing this with the shared governance committee in order to get their cooperation and their support to be able to introduce this into the system gradually to reduce our current high fall rates. I have been on the Internet for hours trying to find the right information for my assignment and to better equip myself for the task ahead of me. I am excited about this evidence based practice because it promotes safe and efficient practice and it also allows nurses or healthcare workers to be proactive, which are hallmarks of the nursing profession.
