Dermatoautoplasty Dermat/o (combining form) – skin + aut/o (combining form) – self + plasty (suffix) – surgical repair Definition: surgery in which the patient’s own skin is used to graft I had to have a dermatoautoplasty to repair the gums behind my front teeth due to a receding gum line. Dermatoheteroplasty Dermat/o (combining form) – skin + heter/o (prefix) – different + plasty (suffix) – surgical repair Definition: procedure in which skin from another person is grafted onto a person’s existing skin She had so many burns on her skin they had to do a dermatoheteroplasty to repair the affected areas.
