Case Presentation 1: Frequent Heart Attacks Stanley is a 31-year-old high school teacher who has been brought to the emergency room by ambulance multiple times over the past 6 months. He typically complains about chest pain, difficulties breathing and light-headedness, fearing that he has a heart attack and might die. It comes “out of the blue” he describes, “my heart starts racing, I start to breath heavily and then this pressure as if I had bricks on my chest…. .the more I try, the heavier it gets and the more I feel like I choke…. .one day I am going to die from one of these attacks”. Stanley also describes that his anxiety about the attacks has made him very cautions leaving the house. He now carries a cell phone at all times, so that he can call 911. He avoids driving by himself and being away far from home. Elevators and enclosed spaces (restaurants, movie theatres) have become a problem because he fears that he can’t get out in time. He also describes that he is now constantly worried about
