STEP 1
To what extent should personal religious beliefs impact our decisions about business ethics?
My Dad, many years ago, told me not to believe in man’s denomination of religion but to take
the Bible and build your knowledge and your relationship of Christ on His holy word.
That
being said whether we want to or not our beliefs do affect how we conduct our day-to-day
transactions and yes how we conduct business ethically.
An athlete trains to compete in a sport
so that his body functions a certain way under stress to win the event.
This is also true how we
train our minds in what is right and wrong will ultimately come out under duress.
It is my belief
that what I study in the word of God will affect my ethics in my job, also how I conduct myself
in public.

PERSONAL WORLDVIEW AND BUSINESS ETHICS
To what extent do your personal religious (or non-religious) beliefs about life impact your
sense of business ethics and personal decision-making?
Jesus in Luke 6:45 discuss’ this point perfectly.
“ A good man out of the good treasure of his
heart brings forth good; an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil.
For out
of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks” (NKJV).
So yes I believe that our personal
beliefs (religious or not) will impact every decision you and I make and yes that include how we
conduct our self ethically in the business world.
Does it seem odd to connect every belief we have about life back to what we believe about
God?
No, it does not seem odd to connect our beliefs about life back to what we believe about God.
I
have been a Christian since I was a boy and study the word of God constantly.
God has shaped
my heart and beliefs. In Romans Paul talks about renewing your mind so God can change whom
you were to what God wants you to be.
Therefore, my foundation of beliefs/faith comes from
the “word of God” and He is still shaping me.
Article 1- “What is a worldview and why is it important to me?”
Has your answers to either of the first two questions changed after reading Article 1?
No my answers to questions 1 and 2 would not change.
Do you believe in absolute truth?
Is there more than one way/religion to understanding
absolute truth about God and the meaning of life?
I do believe in absolute truth.
To use a homicide detective who is investigating a murder as an
example: the detective will collect evidence, which will include a baseball bat, recorded video of
