Sheet1 Page 1 ISSUES AND METHODS OF BIOLOGY -BY 101, Sections 04 & 6 COURSE OUTLINE: We will spent about '/2 week on each of the following areas: 1. Chemistry and Cell Biology 2. Genetics 3. Evolution 4. Diversity 5. Ecology 6. Plants 7. Animals At least part of two periods each week will have a laboratory section. The labs will be announced prior to the exercise. Since the course is called "Issues," I will try to relate current happenings in Biology during the course, so there may be come course modifications. There will also be several Internet assignments of a research nature. OBJECTIVES: -Present fundamental theories in Biology -Present current issues in Biology -Discuss methods in biological research -Laboratory exercise in basic biological procedures EVALUATION: There will be about four tests, usually fill in the blanks, and brief essays, which include the final exam. Exams Reports Make up exams will only be given with adequate excuse. There will also be extra credit reports.
