Com S 103 August 31, 2007 Week 1 Homework 1 . What is a server? What is a workstation? What are the differences between the server and workstation? Both servers and workstations are computers. Workstations are single computers trying to access the resources found on the server. The serve controls these resources and are big and stronger than workstations. 2. What is system software and what is application software? How are they related? System software are the programs that maintain the computer and it’s parts. Application software contains the programs that do specific things for the user, like the internet or a word processor. Both the application software and system software are programs that work together to make a computer usable. I was looking for such kind of answer for relation part Application software performs specific tasks for users. These programs depend on system software for their operation. These applications interact directly with the user. 3.
