2-2 Journal: Consumer Behavior and Drivers of Demand: Who Is in the Driver’s Seat? A discrepancy purchase is when money is spent by consumers on non-essential purchases such as vacations or luxury items. About five months ago, I was experience some really bad abdominal pain and cramping along with some nausea. This started on the weekend and it started to get worse as the day would progress. I experienced these symptoms for about two to three days before I decided to call my primary care physicians office. When I called I got their messaging system saying they were closed for the day and the next day as well. I decided to go to urgent care because I could not wait any longer. It was a must for me to go see a professional before my abdominal pain got any worse. I was the primary consumer that was making the decision regarding the purchase because it involved my health. I was not influenced by others on this decision. Healthcare consumers
