Ownership of proprietary software for example Windows is by a corporation, and the source is not available to all. It is kept a secret from the public and also requires licensing. Open-source software such as Linux OS is accessible to the public and free for anyone to use, unlike proprietary. Usually, a community exists whose main job is to deal with the software and answer to any questions that the customers may have concerning it. The third category is the Hybrid. Hybrid is a combines thefeatures of both the already discussed operating systems. Therefore, though licensing of hybrid isjust like a proprietor operating system, it also has the possibility to be developed as open source.For the company at hand, health care, it is essential to deploy an operating system that would be easy for the IT to monitor and update when necessary while incurring minimal costs.
